11 KBW is a set of barristers' chambers in the Temple whose areas of expertise include public, administrative and commercial law. This section of the site provides a collection of articles and papers on employment law written by members of chambers.

Acas

Acas (the Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service) is a non-departmental public body whose purpose is to promote and facilitate strong employment relations in the UK. The site's Publications section, which can be found within "Advice and Guidance", includes annual reports 1999-2000 onwards, codes of practice, research papers, and a variety of advisory handbooks, booklets and leaflets which can be downloaded free or bought as hard copy. The publications are also indexed via the "Advice A-Z" section.

Ashby Cohen: Legal News

Ashby Cohen Solicitors Ltd is a London law firm which specialises in UK employment law, partnership law, and matters arising out of the Commercial Agents (Council Directive) Regulations 1993. This blog provides news of recent developments in those areas, June 2008 onwards.

Business Link: Employment & skills

Business Link is the government's free business advice and support service. The “Employment & skills” section of the site provides an introduction to employers' legal obligations, including those relating to appointing and dismissing employees, pay and pensions, working time, equal opportunities, health and safety, and industrial relations.

Central Arbitration Committee

The Central Arbitration Committee is an independent body which exercises certain statutory powers relating to the recognition and derecognition of trade unions, and determines certain kinds of disputes between trade unions and employers. It also provides voluntary arbitration in industrial disputes. The site has decisions from June 2000 onwards, details of forthcoming hearings, press releases, recent annual reports, guidance and forms.

Certification Officer

The Certification Officer performs various roles in the regulation of trade unions and employers' associations, including the determination of complaints concerning trade union elections, certain other ballots and breaches of trade union rules. Site content includes all decisions made after August 2001, together with selected earlier key decisions; annual reports 1999/2000 onwards; guidance; and lists of trade unions and employers' associations, with links to those having their own web sites.

Daniel Barnett's Employment Law Archive

Daniel Barnett is a barrister specialising in employment law at 1 Temple Gardens. This weblog comprises an archive, April 1999 onwards, of his free employment law bulletins. This site, produced by the solicitors' firm Field Fisher Waterhouse, provides information on recent developments in employment law. This takes the form of articles, fortnightly Employment Updates, and occasional newsletters, 2003 onwards.

Elborne Mitchell

Elborne Mitchell is a City of London solicitors' firm. Included on its site are case summaries December 1997 onwards, found under "Judgments", and articles focusing mainly on insurance/reinsurance, shipping, and commercial and employment law.

The free section of this site, accessible once any of the options "Employees", "Employers" or "Professionals" has been selected, provides basic information about British employment law in the form of a large number of brief articles accessible via the index at the left of the page. There are also notes on the main employment-related Acts, links to Bills and Statutory Instruments and a list of summarised cases. The site is updated daily, with the “What's New” section linking to the site's twice weekly "Web Updater" service, also available by email. An enhanced subscription service is also available. The site is edited by a team headed by Henry Scrope, solicitor and co-author of the Law Society's Employment Law Handbook, for DiscLaw Publishing Ltd.

Employment Appeal Tribunal

The Employment Appeal Tribunal (EAT) is a superior court of record, with jurisdiction in England and Wales and Scotland, which deals with appeals from decisions of the Employment Tribunals, the Certification Officer and the Central Arbitration Committee. The site has cause lists, procedural information, guidance notes, forms, a consolidated version of the Employment Appeal Tribunal Rules 1993, and full text judgments July 1999 onwards.

Employment Tribunals

Employment tribunals determine disputes between employers and employees over employment rights. Information on the site includes downloadable forms and booklets relating to employment tribunals in both England & Wales and Scotland. Annual reports are available 1999/2000 onwards, and there are links to procedural rules on the OPSI site. There are no decisions on this site, but information on obtaining copies of decisions is available via the Employment Tribunals enquiry line, whose telephone number may be found in the pdf document "Public Register Visitor Information (Bury St. Edmunds)", under Bury St. Edmunds in the alphabetical list of Hearing Centres.

European Agency for Safety and Health at Work

The European Union's Occupational Safety and Health Agency (EU-OSHA) was established in 1996. Its web site has links to EU legislation and proposed legislation, recent news, documents from research programmes, and other information relating to occupational safety and health. The Publications section includes annual reports 1996 onwards, factsheets, reports, and other publications. "Press Room" includes press releases 1999 onwards.

European Commission: Employment, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities

This is the web site of the European Commission's Directorate General for Employment, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities, which is concerned with employment and social policy within the EU, including anti-discrimination measures. Site content includes links to legislation, consultation documents, newsletters, recent news and other documents.

Farrer & Co: Employment

The Employment pages on the web site of London law firm Farrer & Co. include a collection of "briefings" March 2006 onwards.

Federation of European Employers

Although much of the material on this site is restricted to Federation members, the drop-down menu under "Employment Law" provides access to key European Union and state employment law. Coverage includes some European countries outside the EU.

Gangmasters Licensing Authority

The Gangmasters Licensing Authority (GLA) was created under the Gangmasters (Licensing) Act 2004 to curb the exploitation of workers in the agriculture, forestry, horticulture, shellfish gathering, and food processing and packaging industries. There are public registers, codes of practice, guidance, newsletters, information on licensing procedures, and links to legislation.

Garden Court Chambers: Employment Law Bulletin

A bulletin on recent developments in employment law from a leading multi-disciplinary chambers, with an archive January 2006 onwards.

Harassment Law

This site, which is maintained by Neil Addison, barrister and co-author of Harassment law and practice, includes the Protection from Harassment Act 1997 and cases and articles thereon, plus articles on various aspects of harassment: stalking, malicious communications, racial/sexual harassment, harassment at work and anti-social behaviour.

Hardwicke

Hardwicke is a set of barristers' chambers in Lincoln's Inn specialising in civil litigation. The site content incliudes case notes, articles and newsletters on a wide range of topics including commercial law, employment, housing, property, personal injury, clinical negligence and medical malpractice. These may be accessed from any site page, either via the "Resources & Events" tab at the head or under "Useful Links" at the foot.

Health and Safety Executive

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) is a non-departmental public body responsible for the encouragement, regulation and enforcement of workplace health, safety and welfare in England, Wales and Scotland. The site's Legislation section includes lists of relevant Acts and Statutory Instruments, with links where possible to OPSI texts, together with the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974 amended to September 2006. The Enforcement section has searchable databases of enforcement notices issued by HSE and of successful convictions obtained from HSE prosecutions. Other content includes consultations 2000 onwards, guidance, codes of practice, annual reports 2001/02 onwards, leaflets, newsletters, and press releases.

HRM Guide: UK Employment Law Enews

The fortnightly newsletter made available here is produced by the employment law team at UK law firm Steeles Law. There is an archive of newsletters 2000 onwards.

Industrial Law Society

The Industrial Law Society is a registered charity which aims to promote the understanding of labour law and industrial relations, and to provide a forum where all those involved in employment law can meet to exchange views. There is a list of past papers 2006 onwards, the full texts of which may be downloaded. Registration is required, but is free.

Industrial Tribunals and the Fair Employment Tribunal, Northern Ireland

Industrial Tribunals in Northern Ireland hear and determine claims relating to a range of employment matters, including unfair dismissal, breach of contract, and discrimination on the grounds of sex, race, disability, sexual orientation and equal pay. The Fair Employment Tribunal hears and determines complaints of discrimination on the grounds of religious belief and/or political opinion. The site contains main decisions, in a searchable database, from the beginning of 2007 onwards. Information booklets may be downloaded from the Publications & Statistics section. In the Useful Information section there are links to relevant legislation on the OPSI web site.

International Labour Organization

The International Labour Organization (ILO) is a specialised agency of the United Nations which promotes labour rights and the decent treatment of working people. Select "Statistics and databases" to access ILO's legal databases. These include ILOLEX, a database of international labour standards (ILO conventions, recommendations, ratification information, etc); and NATLEX, a database of national labour, social security and related human rights legislation.

Labour Web

Labour Web is a European labour law site produced by the Faculty of Law and European Documentation Centre at the University of Catania (Italy). “Documentation” includes current and proposed directives, EU case law and other documents, EU press releases and statistics, and also relevant material from member states and international organisations.

Thomas More Chambers

Newsletters on employment law 2002 onwards and property law 2003 onwards are available here on the web site of Thomas More Chambers, a set of barristers' chambers in Lincoln's Inn Fields, London.

Thompsons Solicitors: Publications

Thompsons Solicitors is a UK law firm which specialises in personal injury law. Publications on the site include Thompsons Labour and European Law Review, published July 1996 onwards, originally as a monthly review of developments and currently as a biannual publication on the web site with a weekly email bulletin also available. It features comment on cases affecting trade unions and their members. Other site content includes information leaflets and guides relating to many aspects of personal injury and employment law.

TUC: Law at Work

This section of the Trades Union Congress web site includes briefing documents, reports, newsletters and press releases relating to employment law, 1998 onwards. There are also links to other employment related sites.

UK Employment Law

David Royden (1970-2008) was a solicitor who specialised in employment law. His web site includes articles and guidance relating to employment law issues.
