Department for Constitutional Affairs: Elections

Although the Department for Constitutional Affairs was superseded by the Ministry of Justice in May 2007, its archived web site is still accessible. This section of the DCA site has information on the electoral process, reports, consultation papers, links to relevant UK and European legislation, and news about developments in electoral law up to January 2007.

Electoral Commission

The Electoral Commission was established under the Political Parties, Elections and Referendums Act 2000. Its functions include the regulation of party and election finance in the UK and the promotion of greater participation in the electoral process. Documentation on the site includes consultations, annual reports, and guidance for electoral administrators, candidates, agents or parties, and voters. 

Ministry of Justice: Elections

The Ministry of Justice is responsible for the legislative framework for UK and European parliamentary elections and national referendums. This section of its web site has guidance for electoral administrators, including a list of secondary legslation for the Electoral Administration Act 2006 and keeling schedules showing significant amendments to the Representation of the People Act 1983 and the Representation of the People (England and Wales) Regulations 2001.
