Equality and Human Rights Commission
The Equality and Human Rights Commission was established on 1 October 2007 under the Equality Act 2006. It replaced the Equal Opportunities Commission, Commission for Racial Equality and Disability Rights Commission, taking over their existing responsibilities for racial, disability and sex discrimination and also taking on new responsibilities for aspects of equality relating to sexual orientation, age, religion or belief, and human rights. Current legislation, codes of practice, guidance, and advice on case handling can be found in the "Advice and guidance" section, while the "Legislative framework" section includes forthcoming legislation, responses to consultations, and information about the Commission's enforcement work.

Equality Commission for Northern Ireland
The Equality Commission took over on 1 October 1999 the functions previously carried out by the Commission for Racial Equality for Northern Ireland, the Equal Opportunities Commission for Northern Ireland, the Fair Employment Commission and the Northern Ireland Disability Council. The site includes a brief chronology of anti-discrimination law, with links to relevant legislation; case decisions; links to a number of subject areas; and a large number of downloadable documents on different aspects of equality law.

Government Equalities Office
The Government Equalities Office, created in October 2007, is a government policy department responsible for equality strategy and legislation in the UK, including issues relating to women, sexual orientation and transgender equality matters. Documentation on the site includes factsheets, discussion documents, consultations, research reports and press releases.

Harassment Law
This site, which is maintained by Neil Addison, barrister and co-author of Harassment law and practice, includes the Protection from Harassment Act 1997 and cases and articles thereon, plus articles on various aspects of harassment: stalking, malicious communications, racial/sexual harassment, harassment at work and anti-social behaviour.

Industrial Tribunals and the Fair Employment Tribunal, Northern Ireland
Industrial Tribunals in Northern Ireland hear and determine claims relating to a range of employment matters, including unfair dismissal, breach of contract, and discrimination on the grounds of sex, race, disability, sexual orientation and equal pay. The Fair Employment Tribunal hears and determines complaints of discrimination on the grounds of religious belief and/or political opinion. The site contains main decisions, in a searchable database, from the beginning of 2007 onwards. Information booklets may be downloaded from the Publications & Statistics section. In the Useful Information section there are links to relevant legislation on the OPSI web site.

Institute of Race Relations
The Institute of Race Relations (IRR) was originally established in 1958 as an independent educational charity to carry out research, publish and collect resources on race relations throughout the world. It was reorganised into an anti-racist "thinktank" in 1972. The IRR web site provides background information relating to race relations, discrimination, asylum and immigration in Britain, Europe and internationally.

Judicial Studies Board: Equal Treatment
This section of the JSB web site provides guidance for judges and judicial office holders on equal treatment in respect of such matters as race, belief systems, children, disability, women, and sexual orientation. It includes the full text of the Equal Treatment Bench Book.

Migration Policy Group
The Migration Policy Group (MPG) is an independent organisation, based in Brussels, committed to policy development on migration and mobility, anti-discrimination and equality, and diversity and integration. The web site includes information on MPG's programmes of work in those three areas. Publications include a series of Anti-Discrimination Reports covering over 20 European countries, and (within the Anti-Discrimination section) all issues to date of the bi-annual European Anti-Discrimination Law Review (2005 onwards).

Press for Change
Press for Change is a political lobbying and educational organisation which campaigns to achieve equal civil rights and liberties for all transgender people in the United Kingdom. Its "Legal" section features relevant UK legislation and case law from tribunals and courts in the UK, as well as the European Court of Human Rights, concerning gender reassignment. Also includes a link to the web site of TransEquality, a legal advice service funded by Press for Change and the Equality and Human Rights Commission.
