Antigua and Barbuda: Laws and Regulations

Official web site containing the Revised Laws of Antigua & Barbuda, 1992 and annual laws 1993 onwards. Bills before Parliament are also available.

Appleby

Appleby is a firm which provides offshore legal, fiduciary and administration services from offices in locations worldwide including Bermuda, the British Virgin Islands, the Cayman Islands, Hong Kong, Jersey, Guernsey, London and Mauritius. The site has a wide range of publications in various categories (briefs, guides, articles, newsletters, etc), listed by practice area and by jurisdiction as well as by category. Registration is required to download these.

Bahamas Compliance Commission

Includes full text of Acts and Regulations relating to banking and financial services, under the heading “Anti-money-laundering legislative framework”.

Barbados Supreme Court

Provides full text of unreported Supreme Court and High Court judgments, 2000 onwards, as well as cases in the following volumes of the Barbados law reports: vol.2 (1958-1960) and vol.30 (1994). There is a keyword search facility covering all judgments.

BelizeLaw.Org

Features an online, searchable version of the Laws of Belize, revised edition 2000, the Supreme Court (Civil Procedure) Rules 2005 and general information on the Supreme Court and the judiciary. The following judgments are available - but note that coverage is incomplete for the earlier years: Supreme Court (Criminal) 1977 onwards; Supreme Court (Civil) 1972 onwards; Court of Appeal (Criminal) 1977 onwards; Court of Appeal (Civil) 1987 onwards. Judgments will be found in the "e-library" section.

Bermuda Bar Association

Web site of the governing body for the legal profession in Bermuda, containing the Barristers' code of conduct (under "About the Bar Association"), lists of individual members and firms and details of continuing legal education programmes.

Bermuda Laws Online

The Laws of Bermuda are provided here consolidated to July 2010, and annual Acts and Statutory instruments are available from 1993 onwards. Texts are fully searchable.

British Virgin Islands Financial Services Commission

The "Legislation Library" has full text (pdf) of legislation relating to the following sectors: anti-money laundering, banking and fiduciary, Financial Services Commission, insolvency, insurance, investment business and Registry for Corporate Affairs. There is also an extensive "Forms Library".

Caribbean Court of Justice

This Court was established in 2005, and in addition to replacing the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council as a court of final appeal, it is vested with an original jurisdiction in respect of the interpretation and application of the Treaty Establishing the Caribbean Community. The web site contains the Rules of the court, information on the judges and on the administration of the court. There are at the moment (July 2010) upwards of forty judgments available.

Caribbean Court of Justice: A Research Guide

This guide, on the LLRX.com web site, is written by Yasmin Morais, Resident Librarian at Georgetown University Law Center, Edward Bennett Williams Law Library, Washington, D.C., and was published February 2008. It traces the court's history and outlines its mandate and structure. It also provides information on the court's funding, its justices and recent judgments.

CaribInLaw

CaribinLaw is a gateway site providing legal information relating to English-speaking Caribbean countries. Within each country the information is sub-divided as follows: Government departments & institutions, Legislation, Treaties, Judgments, Lawyers, law firms and legal institutions, Legal articles and General.

Cayman Islands Government

The official web site of the Cayman Islands Government provides information about the legal system and contacts for government departments and agencies. The Gazette, containing Acts, Regulations, Bills and legal notices, is available for the years 2008 onwards.

Cayman Islands Monetary Authority

Cayman Islands Laws and Regulations relating to banking, trusts, companies, insurance, investment business etc. are available on this web site, as well as the Authority's own Regulatory handbook.

Cayman Islands: Judicial Administration & Portfolio of Legal Affairs

This is an official web site shared by two Cayman Islands administrations: the Judicial Administration and the Portfolio of Legal Affairs. It provides information on the courts and their officers, court rules and practice directions. Provision of case law is in development. At the moment there are cases from the Cayman Islands Law Reports, 1952-2009. Legislation is provided in the form of supplements to the Gazette, April 2003 onwards, and the annual consolidated index of legislation. Lists of attornies and law firms are available.

Central Bank of Belize

The Regulatory Framework section of the Central Bank's web site gathers together the legislation governing the supervision and regulation of banks and other financial institututions in Belize, that is, Acts and Circulars.

Commonwealth of the Bahamas: Laws on-line

This is a Bahamas Government initiative and provides full text of consolidated Acts up to April 2002, with selected Acts thereafter. Subsidiary legislation is accessed via the title of the enabling Act in the consolidation. The text is not (the authors say) to be relied on as authoritative.

Court of Appeal of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas

The official web site of the Bahamas Court of Appeal, containing selected judgments 2003 onwards, court rules and other information on the procedure and administration of the court, and cause lists.

Eastern Caribbean Securities Regulatory Commission

The Eastern Caribbean Securities Regulatory Commission regulates securities dealing in Anguilla, Antigua & Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, Montserrat, St Kitts & Nevis, St Lucia and St Vincent & The Grenadines. It operates under the Securities Act 2001, which is available on the site along with Regulations and Statutory Orders from the various territories concerned.

Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court

Contains lists of judgments, April 1996 onwards, from Anguilla, Antigua & Barbuda, British Virgin Islands, Dominica, Grenada, Montserrat, St. Kitts & Nevis, St. Lucia and St. Vincent & the Grenadines, with links to full text. Also cause lists, practice directions 2002 onwards and information about the Court and its officers.

International Financial Services Authority of St Vincent and the Grenadines

The "Laws and Regulations" section contains the legislation of St Vincent & the Grenadines relating to banking, companies, insurance, money laundering and trusts. These are all in pdf. There is a brief outline of the legal system.

Judiciary of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago

The Judiciary's web site provides information about judges and the magistracy, High Court judgments 1997-2008, Court of Appeal judgments 2001-2007, the Consolidated Orders and Rules of the Supreme Court, Civil Proceedings Rules, Family Proceedings Rules, and a Damages Digest by Stephanie Daly, giving measure of damages for personal injuries.

Laws of Trinidad and Tobago

Prepared by the Law Revision Commission, this is the revised edition of the Laws of Trinidad and Tobago updated to 31 December 2007, made available on the Ministry of Legal Affairs web site. Laws are grouped under subject headings: that is, in chapter order.

Lex Bahamas

Contents include an overview of the Bahamian legal system, alphabetical index of laws in force, with links to full text in some cases, annual laws, 2000 to 2002 only, of which approximately half are available in full text, law directories and a small number of Supreme Court and Court of Appeal judgments. Note: navigation is easiest using the "Site index" option.

Lowtax.net: Cayman Islands

The Lowtax network of sites provide information and news regarding the legal and tax regimes of "low-tax" or offshore jurisdictions. The "Cayman Islands Law of Offshore" section here concentrates on Trust law, Banking, Insurance and Mutual Funds. The regime is discussed in some detail; however individual statutes are not reproduced in full.

Ministry of Justice, Jamaica

This official government web site gives information on the court system and the work of the legal departments and officers. The revised Laws of Jamaica (published 1974 and updated annually since then) are available to search and download.

Mourant du Feu & Jeune

The offshore law firm Mourant du Feu & Jeune has offices in many locations worldwide including Jersey, Guernsey, the Cayman Islands, London and New York. Short "Client Briefings" on matters relating to the three offshore jurisdictions may be found in the site's Publications section.

OECS Bar Association

The OECS Bar Association comprises the Bars of those Caribbean islands that belong to the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (Antigua & Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, Montserrat, St. Kitts & Nevis, St Lucia, and St Vincent & the Grenadines) together with Anguilla and the British Virgin Islands. At present under construction, the web site provides a directory of members of the Bar in each territory and the Association's code of ethics.

Ogier

The law firm Ogier has offices in various locations including Jersey, Guernsey, the British Virgin Islands and the Cayman Islands. Information on legal developments particularly in those four jurisdictions is provided in the Publications section of the site, mostly in the form of case summaries and client briefings.

Parliament of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago

Legislation section (within the "Publications" menu option) has full text of Bills, 1998 session onwards and Acts, 1999 onwards. Hansard section has debates for both Houses, in full text, July 1990 onwards.

Pinnacle St Lucia

This is an online IBC (International Business Companies) registry set up with the backing of the St Lucia government. The major Acts governing financial services are available to download together with regulations made under each, and amending legislation.

Securities Commission of the Bahamas

The Legislation & Policies section of the Securities Commission web site reproduces the Acts relating to investment funds and the securities industry, and the Regulations made thereunder. Texts are for information only, not official. The same section also contains Forms and Public Notices.

St Kitts Financial Services: Law Library

The Law Library section of this official St Kitts government web site contains current legislation relating to money laundering, companies, limited partnerships, financial services, foundations, anti-terrorism and merchant shipping.

Supreme Court of Jamaica

Provides selected full-text Supreme Court and Court of Appeal judgments, 1997 onwards (plus a selection of earlier ones) and a small miscellany of Jamaican legislation.

Trinidad and Tobago Law and Legal Research

This research guide to Trinidad and Tobago law, from the GlobaLex site, is contributed by Catherine A. Deane and Vincent Moyer, both of the University of California Hastings College of the Law, and was published November 2009.

Virgin Islands Official Gazette

The Official Gazette is the official publication of the Government of the British Virgin Islands. The Gazette itself contains government notices; bills, acts and statutory instruments are circulated along with it. It is published weekly, with extraordinary editions appearing as necessary on other days. Free registration permits unlimited access to Gazettes for 2 months following publication; an enhanced subscription service is also available.
