This is a prototype site, sponsored by Parliament on an experimental basis, which aims to make available the full text (searchable) of Hansard back to 1803. It should be noted that content is not yet complete and that the text, which has no official status, may contain errors.

Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority
The Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA) was created by the Parliamentary Standards Act 2009 to provide a new scheme for the reimbursement of expenses incurred by MPs in doing their work. Information on its web site includes the text of the scheme, which became operational on 7 May 2010. |
National Assembly for Wales
The National Assembly for Wales is a devolved assembly, now (since the coming into effect in May 2007 of the Government of Wales Act 2006) with power to make primary legislation ("Assembly Measures") in certain areas. These areas include education, the environment, health and social care, housing, social welfare, transport and others. Site content includes records of proceedings, Standing Orders, details of Measures passed and in progress, and a link to the Government of Wales Act 2006.

Northern Ireland Assembly
The Assembly was established as part of the Belfast Agreement and is the prime source of authority for all devolved responsibilities. It has full legislative and executive authority. The site includes a directory of members; Official Report (Hansard) July 1998 onwards; Bills 1999 onwards; and tables showing progress of Statutory Rules. The texts of SRs themselves are provided via a link to the OPSI site. Coverage is from 1991 onwards, but pre-1998 coverage is selective. The site also includes Minutes of Departmental and Standing Committee meetings.

Office of the Leader of the House of Commons
The Leader of the House of Commons is the Cabinet minister responsible for arranging government business, including the introduction of government Bills, in the House of Commons. Site content includes details of parliamentary business and news. There is a link to the Prime Minister's Office site (Number10.gov.uk) for information on the government's legislation programme.

Office of the Parliamentary Counsel
The Office of the Parliamentary Counsel (OPC) consists of a specialised team of about 60 lawyers based in Whitehall, with support staff, whose main work is drafting government Bills for introduction into Parliament and related Parliamentary business. Forming part of the Cabinet Office, it was until recently known as the Parliamentary Counsel Office (PCO). There is information on the OPC's role, organisation, drafting techniques, and its history.

Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman
The Parliamentary Ombudsman and the Health Service Ombudsman (two separate posts, held by the same individual) investigate complaints about government departments and agencies and certain other public bodies in the UK, and the National Health Service in England. The site contains information on the complaint procedure, links to relevant legislation, and documents, including reports and press releases.

This section of the UK Parliament web site provides information on the archive collections held by both the House of Commons and the House of Lords. This site, provided by Adfero Ltd, provides in-depth coverage of political events and news. It includes information on parliamentary schedules, Bills going through Parliament and a database of MPs. The editorial board is made up of an MP from each of the three main parties.

Public Bill Committees
This section of the UK Parliament site contains full text debates of Public Bill Committees and the latest versions of Bills (where appropriate) from session 2006-2007 onwards. Standing Committees on Bills were the predecessors of the Public Bill Committees and their debates from the 1997-1998 session to the 2005-2006 session can also be viewed.

Scottish Parliament
The Scottish Parliament was re-established in 1999 after an interval of 292 years during which the UK Parliament legislated for Scotland. Its web site contains the Official Report of proceedings and written Questions and Answers, 1999 onwards, information on Bills in progress, committee papers, members' biographies and frequent news releases.

Scottish Parliamentary Standards Commissioner
The Commissioner investigates alleged breaches of the Code of Conduct for Members of the Scottish Parliament (MSPs). The web site contains advice on how to submit a complaint about a MSP, and explains how complaints are dealt with. The Code itself is available via a link to the Scottish Parliament site. Annual reports for 2003 onwards are also available.

This web site allows users to search for information on MPs (voting histories, attendance records, rebellions etc.). The text of Commons debates goes back to the General Election of 1935; Commons written answers and written ministerial statements date back to the General Election of June 2001 and the House of Lords Debates from 1999 onwards. The site is run by a group of volunteers backed by a grant from a UK charity, UK Citizen's Online Democracy.
